Al-Dakhil for the defence in United defeat
We were beaten 1-0 at home last Saturday by Manchester United but it was an afternoon that saw Ameen Al-Dakhil turn in an outstanding performance for us in the centre of defence.
He’s impressed since arriving at Burnley in January but this was arguably his best performance yet in a Burnley shirt and it was a performance that saw him win both our man of the match and player ratings.
He polled 41% of the man of the match vote, some way ahead of defensive partner Jordan Beyer who was second with a 17% share. Aaron Ramsey, on his first ever Premier League start, was third with 15% and Luca Koleosho took fourth place with 10% of the vote.
Those same four players took the top four places in the player ratings too with three of them scoring above seven out of ten. Al-Dakhil was not far short of eight and his 7.97 out of ten was the highest rating recorded by any of our players in a Premier League game this season.
Ramsey was second in the ratings with 7.36 while Koleosho took third place with 7.03. Fourth place went to Beyer who had a rating of 6.79 out of ten.
The result has given Al-Dakhil the maximum ten points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year. There are also five points for Ramsey, four for Beyer and three for Koleosho. Those points have moved Al-Dakhil into third place in the table and Koleosho is now just five points behind leader Lyle Foster.
