Al-Dakhil makes a great start on debut
New signing Ameen Al-Dakhil stepped into the team last Saturday at Ipswich Town in the FA Cup and turned in a debut performance that has won him both the man of the match and the player ratings.
It was an assured performance alongside the very much in form Jordan Beyer to get his Burnley career underway, helping the team to keep a clean sheet and earn a Turf Moor replay next week.
Al-Dakhil polled 46% of the man of the match vote, beating his defensive partner Beyer who was second with a 22% share. Charlie Taylor, who played at left-back, was third with 9% while goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell came fourth with 8% of the vote.
The two central defenders were on top of the player ratings too; Al-Dakhil won it with a rating of exactly seven out of ten with Beyer coming second with 6.83. Peacock-Farrell was third with 6.35 while a rating of 6.30 out of ten brought a fourth place for substitute Josh Cullen.
That result has given Al-Dakhil ten points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year. Beyer has won six points with three points for Peacock-Farrell, two for Taylor and one point for Cullen.
It was the final game in January with Beyer winning the player of the month with a six point advantage over Ian Maatsen. It’s a second successive month that Beyer has been top along with previous winners this season who are Josh Brownhill (August), Jack Cork (September), Anass Zaroury (October) and Manuel Benson (November). Cork and Benson still hold the top two places in then player of the year table by some distance.
The next vote will be underway for the Norwich game on Saturday. The Ipswich result, the January player of the month result and the current player of the year table are all below.
