Anderson returns to Chesterfield
Central defender Tom Anderson is on his way back to Chesterfield on loan for the rest of the 2016/17 season.
Tom, now 22, signed a new contract recently with the Clarets to keep him at Turf Moor until the summer of 2018 at least, but he’s now making a return to Sean Dyche’s former club Chesterfield where he impressed last season.
Although he’s been on the bench for Burnley, all his first team football has come in a series of loans that have seen him move up the levels. He enjoyed non-league loans at Barrow, Hyde, Halifax and Lincoln before signing for Carlisle in October 2014 where, in just over two months, he made eight League Two appearances.
Last season he signed for Chesterfield on the last day of the January transfer window. He went straight into their side and went on to make 18 appearances in League One. He impressed so much that Chesterfield made it clear they would like him to return.
Chief exec Chris Turner said last May: “Tom did fantastic for us and with Burnley going up to the Premier League , without being disrespectful to Tom, I think first team football there next season will be difficult for him so Burnley will probably loan him out again.
“He enjoyed his time here and played well and I’m sure Danny (Wilson, Chesterfield manager) is looking at him to return next season.”
Chesterfield have got their man and Anderson will spend the rest of this season with the Spirites.Follow UpTheClarets:
