A couple of weeks ago, we reported that central defender Tom Anderson had returned from his loan at Doncaster Rovers after he suffered a fractured cheekbone after clashing with his own goalkeeper Marko Marosi in a game against Rotherham United.

1718 burnley tom anderson 00 500x500Doncaster boss Darren Ferguson said then: “It was a bad one. Marko’s caught him badly. The striker’s just nudged him and obviously put him onto Marko. We thought he had fractured his eye socket as well but he hasn’t. It’s a bad injury but it could’ve been worse in many ways. He’s a tough boy, he’ll get on with it.

“Burnley will get him in quicker for the operation and we’ll keep in contact with him about how his rehab is going.”

His rehab is going well and Ferguson has confirmed today that Tom has now returned to Doncaster and could be fit to play again next month.

Ferguson said today: ” Tom Anderson has come back to us and he is going to do his rehab here, you would think he would be involved from April 14 to play and from that point we would have six games until the end of the season.

“We will have to see if Tom wears a mask from that point onwards but we will have to wait and see, it is not a problem if he has to because you see it more often than not with those kind of injuries.”
