As you were at the top of the Alliance

There was no change at the top of the Youth Alliance League over the weekend with all of the top four clubs – Wigan Athletic, Walsall and Bury – winning as they continue to chase the title.
Walsall had the more difficult task against Fleetwood while Wigan and Bury were facing the bottom two Morecambe and Burnley, but all three had comfortable wins, Wigan and Bury recording 3-0 victories and Wigan recording a 5-1 victory against Morecambe.
Shrewsbury’s win at Blackpool has moved them above Tranmere into fourth place but it is unlikely they will push for a place at the top. Although Walsall remain second, it still looks very much as though the title chase will be, just as it was a year ago, between Wigan and Bury given their games in hand.
Wigan are clearly favourites with a four point advantage and Bury having just one game in hand and the clash between them, which was postponed just over a week ago, could go some way to deciding the destination of the title.
There are fixtures on four days this week. Wigan will play twice with Bury just having the one game. All of the games are away; Wigan travel to both Fleetwood and Preston with Bury facing an away game at Port Vale.
We won one and lost one during last week, beating Fleetwood 3-0 before losing by the same score at Bury. We’ve two fixtures this week against the teams in fourth and fifth place. We travel to Tranmere tomorrow and face Shrewsbury at home next Saturday.
