Back to Curzon Ashton tonight
The under-23s face Nottingham Forest tonight with the fixture being played at the Tameside Stadium, home of Curzon Ashton.
We played one or two games there last season but it was 2019/20 when this was our regular home for the under-23 games and the last fixture when we were permitted to attend was the Premier League Cup game against Blackburn in March 2020 when Joel Mumbongo scored our goal in a 1-1 draw.
Tonight it’s Forest as we look to arrest a slide that has seen us lose our last three games against Fulham, Aston Villa and Stoke although that most recent defeat against Stoke was influenced by the early and ridiculous red card shown to Max Thompson.
It means we go into the game in ninth place in the table with 17 points from 13 games. Forest, in their first season in the league, are currently twelfth with 12 points although they do have a game in hand on us.
They won consecutive games in September against Reading, Birmingham and Middlesbrough but have since picked up just two points from six games that kicked off with our dramatic draw at the City Ground when Forest took the lead in the second minute of stoppage time only for Anthony Glennon to rescue a point with an equaliser two minutes later. They’ve lost their last two games at Norwich and at home against Newcastle.
Our most recent home game against them was in September 2019 when we were both playing in the Professional Development League. That game ended 1-1 at Turf Moor despite us dominating almost from start to finish. Our goal that night was scored by Ali Koiki.
Tonight’s game kicks off at 7 p.m.Share this page :
