It was cup and league action for the under-23s last week against Sheffield United and Norwich City and it is the same this week with home games against Peterborough United in the cup followed by Middlesbrough in the league.

The cup is the Premier League Cup and we played the first of our six games last Monday with a 3-0 win against Sheffield United at Chesterfield. Tonight we play our first home game in Group D with Peterborough our opponents tonight at Leyland.

They haven’t played as yet in the competition with the only game prior to our win last week coming when Sheffield United beat Everton 3-1.

We take an impressive run of seven games without defeat into the game, five of them in Premier League 2 and two in the cups, last weeks win at Sheffield United and the Central League Cup victory against Rochdale.

Peterborough are now a Category 2 club playing in the Professional Development League and currently sit third in the south group having won three, drawn two and lost two of their games so far this season.

Amazingly they’ve scored four goals in each of their victories. They have beaten QPR and Watford 4-0 at home and more recently won 4-1 at Bristol City. However, they are without a win in three games having drawn 1-1 at Swansea and at home against Hull while last time out they were beaten 5-1 by Sheffield Wednesday.

Tonight’s game is being played at Leyland and kicks off at 7 p.m. It is being shown live on YouTube.
