Barton fit but duo ruled out with injury
Joey Barton, who was substituted with ten minutes to go at Swansea with a hamstring problem, has been passed fit for Sunday’s Premier League game at Liverpool where he is likely to start in his home city for the first time as a Burnley player. Barton’s inclusion is a big boost for the Clarets. He might have been starting a suspension but his hearing with the FA this week was called off due to the illness of an FA investigator.
That’s the good news, but the not so good news is that we will still be without both Steven Defour and Johann Berg Gudmundsson. Defour is fit and training but Sean Dyche has reported that he’s not ready to throw in yet. This will be the sixth game he’s missed since suffering a hamstring injury against Leicester and for Gudmundsson it’s a third game out of the side since he injured a knee in the FA Cup tie against Lincoln.
Tom Heaton is available after missing out last week with illness and he’ll return to the squad as will Ashley Barnes who has now served is one match ban.Share this page :
