1718 burnley olatunde bayode 00 500x500Burnley’s under-23s have continued their unbeaten run at Birmingham this afternoon with the game ending in a 1-1 draw.

Birmingham went in front midway through the first half with a goal from Dan Scarr who turned in a Gary Gardner goal, but we certainly had our opportunities to get back in. Dan Agyei hit the post soon after while Josh Benson then had a penalty brilliantly saved by Michael Luyambula.

But with thirteen minutes remaining, Dwight McNeil broke down the left and saw his shot blocked. Bayode was first onto it to volley home a leveller  which extends our run without defeat in the league to seven games and takes us, for now, to the top of the league.

One other big positive from the game was seeing a return to action for central defender Ben Gibson after his second bout of surgery this season.

The teams were;

Birmingham: Michael Luyambula, Ben Forrest, Ryan Burke, Ryan Stirk, Dan Scarr, Joe Redmond, Olly McCoy, Gary Gardner, Kyle McFarlane, Josh Andrews, Kyle Hurst. Subs: Josh Bradley-Hurst, Tommy Anderson, Cameron McGilp, Geraldo Bajrami, Jack Concannon.

Burnley: Anders Lindegaard, Jordan Cropper, James Clarke, Ben Gibson, Anthony Glennon, Tunde Bayode, Mark Howarth, Josh Benson, Ali Koiki, Dwight McNeil, Dan Agyei. Subs: George McMahon, Ed Cook, Oscar Woods, Marley Blair, Rob Harker.
