Having ended his player career with Crusaders in Northern Ireland, goalkeeper Brian Jensen joined Bury last summer as goalkeeping coach but is on the move again this summer and has now taken Danny Coyne’s old role at Shrewsbury Town.

1112 burnley brian jensen 00 300x300Coyne stepped up as manager Sam Ricketts’ number two last season but was released recently although has now taken on the goalkeeping coach position at Middlesbrough with Jensen, a team mate for three years at Burnley, moving to the Shropshire club having presumably been working without pay at Bury recently.

Ricketts said of the former Claret who spent ten years at Turf Moor before being released six years ago: “The way he played and handled himself during his career, you can start seeing coming out in his coaching and with that you start seeing that in the goalkeepers.

“As a player he was very good with his game management and had a real eye for detail. Now he has started a very successful coaching career and we are delighted to have him.”

Ricketts added: “Brian is a player who has had a very successful career, played for a huge number of years, just 12 months ago he was still playing. He has played at the top level, I probably remember him from Burnley more than anywhere, playing in the Championship and Premier League at that time.

“He has stepped over into the coaching side. Last year was his first year full on coaching at Bury, resulting in a promotion there, so a very successful first season in coaching for him. I’m delighted to have him alongside the backroom staff already in place and looking forward to the new season.”
