Burnley won through to the fourth round of the League Cup this week with a comprehensive 4-0 victory against Salford at their Moor Lane ground and two of our players stood out above the others as we can see from the man of the match and the player ratings result.

Anass Zaroury came in for his first start of the season and, playing in a free role, turned provider with three assists. His performance won him 59% of the man of the match vote with midfielder Sander Berge, the summer signing from Sheffield United who opened the scoring, taking second place with a 24% share.

Two of the other goalscorers took the next two places. Wilson Odobert was third with 7% while Jacob Bruun Larsen took fourth place with 3% of the vote.

Those four players were all in the top four of the player ratings too. This time Berge was the winner with a rating of 8.25 followed by Zaroury who rated at 8.08. The next two swapped places too; Larsen was third with 7.58 and a rating of 7.50 secured fourth place for Odobert.

It’s given both Berge and Zaroury eight points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year with three points each for Larsen and Odobert. Three of those players were winning their first points of the season while Berge previously had two. He’s now moved into joint fifth place alongside Jordan Beyer.

The Newcastle vote will be underway later today. The Salford result and the current player of the year table are below.
