Jordan Beyer, as he’d done in the previous game at Manchester City, won both our man of the match vote and the player ratings from our game against Sunderland and it’s won him a third player of the month award.

His performance helped us to a seventeenth clean sheet of the season in the Championship, the highest in the league alongside Coventry and Luton, and he was a comfortable winner for the man of the match with 39% of the vote. Josh Brownhill, who returned to the team following the injury he sustained at Blackpool, was second with a 14% share. Josh Cullen took third place with 13% and 8% of the vote won fourth place for Connor Roberts.

It was a game of low player ratings again with no player coming close to seven out of ten for a good performance. Beyer was ahead again with a rating of 6.67 out of ten and he was followed by substitute Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson who took second place with 6.55. Roberts was third with a rating of 6.50 and Cullen shared fourth place with Ashley Barnes, both having a rating of 6.21 out oif ten.

This result has given Beyer ten points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year. All of Brownhill, Cullen, Guðmundsson and Roberts have won three points with one point for Barnes and those points have proved to be significant.

Beyer and Cullen went into the game having won 29 points previously in March but Beyer ensured winning the player of the month, his third such award this season. The monthly winner have been Brownhill (July/August), Jack Cork (September), Anass Zaroury (October), Manuel Benson (November), Beyer (December, January & March) and Cullen (February).

Cullen still leads the player of the year table and the three points he won in this game proved vital with Beyer now having moved into second place and just three points behind him. Jack Cork now drops to third, seven points behind Cullen. Nathan Tella and Manuel Benson are the only other two players within any sort of striking distance.

The Sunderland result is below, followed by both the March player of the month result and the current player of the year table.
