Our hopes of reaching a top two finish in the Professional Development League and a place in the end of season play-offs suffered a blow yesterday afternoon when we suffered a 4-0 defeat against leaders Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Fielding a side with 114 Championship appearances between them this season, we were second best throughout and could have no complaints at the scoreline.

It was just 1-0 at the break with Will Osula giving the Blades the lead but we were thankful to Denis Franchi (pictured) who had a good game in goal for keeping the score at one.

He could do nothing about things in the second half with Kyron Gordon, Osula with his second and Louie Marsh all scoring to give the hosts the big win to extend their lead at the top of the table.

The next game is on Tuesday, 29th April when we play Peterborough  at Gawthorpe with a 3 p.m. kick off.

The teams were;

Sheffield United: Marcus Dewhurst, Sai Sachdev, Enda Stevens, Kyron Gordon, Connor Barratt, Miguel Freckleton, Oliver Arblaster, Louie Marsh, Will Osula, Antwoine Hackford, Sydie Peck. Subs: Luke Faxon, Luther Williams, Jili Buyabu, JOsh Smith, Kurtis Havenhand.

Burnley: Denis Franchi, Keelan Williams, Taylor Harwood-Bellis (Jack Turner 77), Dan Sassi, Charlie Taylor, Joe Bauress, Samuel Bastien, Manuel Benson (Brad Grant 61), Scott Twine, Seb Thompson (Joe Westley 77), Halil Dervişoğlu. Subs not used: Harry Moss, Jez Davies.
