Big defeat for under-23s at Villa
There was to be no response, result wise, to the defeat against Fulham last time out in Premier League 2 as we fell to a 4-1 defeat tonight against Aston Villa.
With Anthony Gomez Mancini, Ne-Jai Tucker, Lewis Richardson and Rob Harker all again out of the reckoning, we went into the game tonight without Bobby Thomas and Anthony Glennon while Dale Stephens, who has featured in the last two games, was also not included.
We were behind after just 14 minutes when Jaden Philogene-Bidace converted a cross and that lead was doubled ten minutes later with Caleb Chukwuemeka taking advantage of a miskick by goalkeeper Sam Waller.
Jacob Bedeau (pictured) pulled one back when he headed home at the second attempt from a corner but Villa restored their two goal advantage right on half time when Philogene-Bidace got his second.
Burnley did come close a couple of times in the second half but it was Villa who added a fourth close to the end when substitute Tristan Goodridge converted after a good save by Waller.
