Blackpool up to second in quiet week

It was a quiet week in the Youth Alliance League with only three games played last Saturday which were enough for Walsall to increase their lead at the top of the league and Blackpool to move into second place.
It’s close at the top of the league which, as is often the case, sees some teams having played a number of games more than others. As it stands now, Wigan have played the most with 13 while Accrington, who have slipped to third, have only played nine.
The problem comes if we have a bad winter and the postponements build up. Around three years ago the league table was based on points per game rather than total points because some clubs didn’t fulfil their fixtures.
Walsall, the only other winners besides Blackpool, are now six points clear. They beat Carlisle who are on a bad run having made such an impressive start. Blackpool won at Shrewsbury while in the only other game played the points were shared between Wigan and Morecambe.
We’ve retained our seventh place and will be looking to get back into action this Saturday when we face bottom team Wrexham at home in what will be our first league game in four weeks.
It’s a full set of fixtures this week with Wigan, who are one place below us, missing out.
All last week’s results are below with this week’s fixtures, Burnley’s goalscorers and the league table as it stands.
The League Table is updated as results are confirmed and can be found, as can our Fixtures and Results, in U23/U18 Stats on the top menu.
