Blades go second as we drop into bottom half
Sheffield United’s 2-0 win against us two days ago in the U18 Professional Development League has taken them into second place in the northern group while the loss has seen us drop into the bottom half.
Hull have gone above us courtesy of their win at Leeds which means we are now sixth and it could have been even worse had Sheffield Wednesday, winners against us a week earlier, avoided defeat at bottom team Bolton. It wasn’t to be with Bolton recording their first victory of the season.
Nothing much has changed in the league although Nottingham Forest might have hoped to have closed the gap further on leaders Wigan when they played their game in hand against Crewe only to have to settle for a draw.
Charlton had the biggest win of the week and it has taken them to the top of the southern group. Previous leaders Watford were without a game and Charlton took advantage with a 6-0 win at Coventry to move ahead of them on goal difference.
Having lost our last two games, we’ll be hoping to get back to winning ways this weekend when we face third place Nottingham Forest at home. We do have games in hand on all the teams in the league and any result would see us move back into fifth place with Hull having no game this weekend.
The player featured this week is goalkeeper Lewis Thomas who joined the club from Manchester City last summer.
