grounds accrington 5Burnley have been drawn away against Accrington Stanley in the 2nd round of the League Cup with the tie to be played in two weeks time.

This will be the first time the two clubs will have faced each other competitively although a trip to the Crown Ground has not been a rare event in recent years for Burnley fans with us having played several pre-season friendlies there and, of course, it was the venue for our home reserve games for a number of years.

The draw itself was something of a farce. Having confirmed it would take place at approximately 10 p.m., the Football League didn’t bother to inform anyone that it would be delayed should there be extra time and penalties in tonight’s ties, and then poor Bristol City find themselves drawn away against both Scunthorpe and Chelsea because of an outstanding tie between their rivals Bristol Rovers and Cardiff.

The Accrington game is likely to be on Tuesday 23rd August.
