The under-21s have beaten Preston North End 4-0 this afternoon in the Central League Cup and it’s a result that takes us level with Accrington at the top of Group B.

Two early goals scored by Jez Davies and Kian Le Fondre were followed by two more in the final thirteen minutes when both Han-Noah Massengo (penalty) and Lewis Richardson found the net.

It’s taken us to six points from two games, behind Accrington on goals scored. Blackburn, who have played one more game, and Wrexham both have three points with Preston at the bottom having lost all their three games.

The teams were;

Burnley: Charlie Casper, Alex Healy-Byrne, Dan Sassi, Marley Leuluai (Luca Jackson 63), Logan Pye, Brad Grant (Oli Pimlott ht)Han-Noah Massengo, Jez Davies, Manuel Benson (Trialist 63), Kian Le Fondre (Benji Wetshi 44), Lewis Richardson. Sub not used: Harry Moss.

Preston: James Pradic, Blake, Kacper Pasiec, Ellis Horan, Tom Wilkinson, Cole McGhee, Josh Seary, Noah Mawene, Max Wilson, Mikey O’Neill, Isaac Khan. Subs: Tommy Davis, Peter Critchley, Troy Tarry, Charlie Goldsmith, Theo Carroll.
