Burnley sign young French midfielder on loan
Anthony Gomez Mancini has today joined Burnley on loan with a view to a permanent deal from French club Angers and will join the Clarets’ under-23 squad.
His only appearances for the first team at Angers have been in first team friendlies but the 19-year-old has represented his country at youth level in the Toulon Tournament.
Under-23 coach Steve Stone said today: “We are looking to spread our network wherever it’s needed to keep improving and bringing in players to help us move forward and this is what we’ve done with Anthony. He’s technically very good with an excellent pedigree in France. We’re looking forward to working with him and seeing what he can bring to us.”
Mancini has been at Angers for two years having previously played for Lyon. The new recruit said: “I have progressed at Angers on a lot of levels, technically, physically and mentally, and it’s been a good experience.
“This is a good opportunity for me now at Burnley and I will be doing my best here for me and for the club. It’s very important for me. It’s a good challenge for me. My objective will be to play for the first team and I will do my best to gain a contract.
“I have been keeping an eye on Burnley’s results. I’m happy to be here and excited to get to know my team-mates and start training with them.”
