Burnley sign youngster West
Macclesfield’s 16-year-old Callum West has joined the Clarets and will team up with us for pre-season ahead of 2022/23.
West has already made eight first team appearances for Macc, four in the league and four in cup competitions, making his debut in December last year in the Cheshire Senior Cup against Stockport.
Voted their young player of the year in 2021/22 he’s expected to join Tony Philliskirk’s under-18 team next season.
Macclesfield and Burnley have agreed a compensation fee and their director of football Robbie Savage said: “Whilst I am saddened to lose Callum, I am absolutely delighted that he has secured such a prestigious move. I have seen Callum develop into a player who has matured well beyond his years and I will be monitoring how he progresses at Turf Moor very closely. I wish both Callum and his family every success in the future.”
