Despite the 4-1 defeat against Bolton two days ago, the win against Barnsley last week has ensured we have moved up two places in the north group of the Professional Development League. From next to bottom we are now eighth in the eleven team league although we have played more games than most others.

1718 burnley khius metz 00 500x500Leeds and Crewe are the two teams we’ve passed. Leeds were beaten by Sheffield United, who have moved back into second place, while Crewe’s game this afternoon was called off because of first team commitments for their League Two fixture last night.

Huddersfield, who were bottom, also beat Barnsley. They had a big 4-1 win over them with Joe Lolley helping himself to a hat trick.

Up at the top of the league, the top two clashed on Saturday evening when Sheffield Wednesday travelled to the KCOM Stadium to play Hull. It was Wednesday who won the day 1-0 with a Warren Clarke goal just before half time with Hull again playing the game almost immediately after the conclusion of the first team game.

There was a hat trick in the south group too with Sullay Kaikai netting three of Crystal Palace’s four goals against Colchester. It’s moved them into third place and within three points of leaders QPR who could only draw against bottom of the league Bristol City. Coventry are now clear in second place after a win against Watford.

There’s a full fixture list this week with two north group games to be played this Friday and the other three next Monday when all five south group games will be played. Burnley are the team to miss out this week.
