The under-23s have been beaten 2-1 this evening against Lancaster City tonight at Giant Axe and will now play Ashton United, beaten 1-0 at Clitheroe, in the 3rd/4th place play-off this Saturday back at the same venue.

We fell behind after just 15 minutes through Charlie Bailey but just nine minutes into the second half we drew level with Sam Unwin (pictured) lifting the ball over the home goalkeeper following a through ball from Harry Williams.

Lancaster were soon back in front, just four minutes later when Paul Dawson converted from the penalty spot and that proved to be the winning goal. The penalty was given against Jacob Bedeau but looked a soft decision from Sunderland referee Geoff Eltringham.

The teams were;

Lancaster City: Ashton (Alexander ht), S Bailey, C Bailey, Fensome, Teague, Graham, Dawson (Trialist 83), Cowperthwaite, Kilifin (Anderson 83), Norris (Ikpakwu 65), Turner (Trialist 71).
