Clarets claim first under-23 league win
Having been beaten last week at Crystal Palace, Burnley got the first three points on the board this afternoon in the Professional Development League with a 2-0 win over Ipswich Town.
Ipswich, who had come from behind to beat Crewe 3-2 in last week’s opener, fielded a very young side with a number of their under-23s having been called into the first team squad for their League Cup tie this week.
Burnley did have some experience in the line up with recent signing Adam Legzdins in goal and Fredrik Ulvestad, who spent last season on loan at Charlton, in the midfield.
Ulvestad made his debut for Burnley in the Premier League as did Dan Agyei who opened the scoring for Burnley just before the half hour when he turned in a Nashe Chakwana cross.
The lead was doubled just a couple of minutes from the end with substitute Olatunde Bayode scoring with a great strike.
We’ll next be in action on Tuesday of next week with an away game against Bristol City. This one will be played at Ashton Gate with a 7 p.m. kick off.
The teams were;
Burnley: Adam Legzdins, Arlen Birch, Tom Anderson, Oliver Younger, Scott Wilson, Nashé Chakwana, Fredrik Ulvestad, Rahis Nabi, Dwight McNeil (Olatunde Bayode 65), Khius Metz (Harry Limb 59), Dan Agyei. Subs not used: Aidan Stone, Harry Flowers, Jamie Thomas.
