Having won 2-0 at home against Middlesbrough in Premier League 2 this season, we completed the double over them at Bishop Auckland this afternoon with a 3-0 victory.

Dara Costelloe (pictured) was the match winner, scoring the first two goals in the opening sixteen minutes. He opened the scoring on six minutes and when he netted the second eight minutes later it could have completed a hat trick but for home goalkeeper Nathan Fisher making a good save to deny him.

Burnley goalkeeper Sam Waller was called into action to keep out a Pharrell Willis effort but we were deserving of our two goal advantage at the break.

Waller made another good save at the start of the second half but seven minutes in the game was all over. It came from the penalty spot after Anthony Gomez Mancini had been fouled. We don’t have the best of records from penalties at this level but Anthony Glennon made no mistake.

The game saw wide player Sean Etaluku make his debut at this level and had a good first game for a side that played without a striker with all of Rob Harker, Joe McGlynn, Michael Mellon, Lewis Richardson, Max Thompson and Sam Unwin all missing.

The next game comes this Wednesday against Sheffield United in the Premier League Cup.

The teams were;

Middlesbrough: Nathan Fisher, Cain Sykes, Afonso Lindo, Josh Marshall, Daniel Dodds (George Gitau 76), Williams Kokolo, Jack Stott, Connor Malley, Calum Kavanagh, Pharrell Willis, Jeremy Sivi (Sonny Finch 66). Subs not used: Joshua Wells, Cameron Simpson, Aidan Bridge.

Burnley: Sam Waller, Ethen Vaughan, Jake Rooney, Anthony Glennon, Finlay Armstrong, Sean Etaluku (Will Hugill 85), Mark Helm, Ben Woods, Owen Dodgson, Anthony Gomez Mancini (Jacson Coppack 67), Dara Costelloe. Sub not used: Lewis Thomas.
