Burnley were linked last January with a potential move for Derby County right back Jayden Bogle. Nothing came of it then but we’ve been linked again with a potential for him in the next window which opens in three weeks time.

The Athletic have reported this morning that we are very much looking to bring in a new right back with Matt Lowton, who returned to the side last Saturday, now past his 30th birthday and Phil Bardsley, who is 34 and is out of contract in the summer, the two currently competing for the position.

Bogle is very much the Kieran Trippier style of right back. He’s quick, gets forward and crosses well. He’s had 12 assists for Derby since the beginning of last season. Defensively, he’s considered to be in need of some improvement.

Still just 19, he’s made 54 league appearances in the Championship for Derby having made his debut at Millwall at the beginning of last season. Last year, amid interest from us and other clubs, then manager Frank Lampard admitted he was not surprised that clubs from the Premier League were looking at him.

It is understood there is interest in him from other clubs again while Burnley are thought to also have other targets for the right back position.
