Burnley have been beaten 1-0 this afternoon at south group leaders Millwall in the Professional Development League.

Against a Millwall team that fielded an experienced side that had, between them, made over 110 Championship appearances this season, we held them for seventy minutes with a very inexperienced side.

With twenty minutes remaining, Tyler Burey, who has over fifty Championship games under his belt which has seen him score three times, including a last minute winner against West Brom this season, netted the only goal of the game to give Millwall all three points.

There was very little experience in our side and we included a number of under-18s and a trialist who is believed to be Crystal Palace under-18 midfielder Basilio Socoliche.

Despite the result, it was a performance that coach Andy Farrell was pleased with given the experience in the opposition’s line up.

We remain three points behind both Wigan and Hull who were also beaten on the road this afternoon, Wigan at Charlton and Hull at Swansea.

The teams were;

Millwall: Bartosz Bialkowski, Nino Adom-Malaki, Scott Malone, George Evans, Shaun Hutchinson, Chinwike Okoli, Romain Esse, Alex Mitchell, Mason Bennett, Nana Boateng, Tyler Burey. Subs: Joseph Wright, Frankie Hvid, Sebastian Drozd, Alfie Allen, Tom Leahy.

Burnley: Dennis Franchi, Alex Healy-Byrne, Dan Sassi, Jack Turner (Gabriel Otegbayo 84), Brad Grant, Basilio Socoliche – Trialist (Joe Ashton 84), Will Hugill, Jez Davies (Wiktor Gromek 84), Marcel Lewis (Renaldo Torraj 8), Tom Tweedy, Joe Westley. Sub not used: Harry Moss.
