The under-21s season got underway with a 3-1 defeat at Millwall this afternoon and, as was the case last season, a young Burnley team came up against much more experienced opposition.

We fell behind after just thirteen minutes to a George Evans goal but drew level midway through the first half when Lewis Richardson fired a low shot past home goalkeeper Connal Trueman for his first Burnley goal since August last year when he scored the first in a 2-1 win at Cardiff.

Level at half time, but it was Millwall who went on to win the game with two second half goals. With not long gone, Aidomo Emakhu put the hosts back in front and the scoring was complete just past the hour when Seb Drozd headed home from a corner.

Our home programme will kick off this Saturday morning when Cardiff are the visitors to the County Ground at Leyland.
