Clarets take on Wolves today in Premier League 2
It’s third from bottom Burnley against second in the league Wolves today in Premier League 2 but such is the league that should Burnley win we would go within two points of Wolves and into fifth place behind both Middlesbrough and Aston Villa on goal difference.
Wolves were our first ever opponents in this league when we kicked off this season back on 12th September against them at Kidderminster Harriers’ Aggborough Stadium. On that occasion well behind to a goal scored by Theo Corbeanu but two goals in three minutes, scored by Lewis Richardson and Max Thompson saw us go in front.
A Bobby Thomas own goal right on half time levelled things with Wolves winning it 3-2 with a goal just over ten minutes into the second half scored by Austin Samuels.
The Wolves under-23 team have got used to playing away games. They haven’t played at home since November when they were beaten 4-1 by Middlesbrough. Since, they have played three away games at Newcastle, West Brom and Norwich, winning all three.
That’s taken them into second place although they currently sit six points behind leaders Leeds who beat us last week. That game brought to an end an undefeated run of five games. Like Wolves, our last defeat was at the hands of Middlesbrough but since then we’ve recorded draws against Aston Villa and Norwich while beating Fulham, Stoke and Reading.
Today’s game has moved both kick off time and venue. It will now kick off at 1:30 p.m. and will be played at Gawthorpe.Share this page :
