Clarets through in cup after late Chakwana goal
The youth team won through to the next round of the Youth Alliance Cup this morning with a 2-1 win against Scunthorpe although it took a late, late goal from Nashé Chakwana to claim the victory.
In was a very good performance by the team. We took the lead in the second half with a Tommy Wood penalty but it all looked in vain when Scunthorpe equalised with a worldy.
Scunthorpe only need a point to go through but right on cue, Chakwana (pictured) scored the winner to take the Clarets through having finished level with Accrington.
Unfortunately there won’t be a full report of the game this week. Andy Ashworth was set to be there but he became a dad for the first time this morning with the birth of a son, Alfie Frank. All are doing well I’m told and I’d like to send my congratulations to them.
