Clarets will go in search of FA Cup win against Barnsley
We’ve been drawn against Barnsley in the 3rd round of the FA Cup and this will be the third time we’ve played the Yorkshire club in this competition.
The first occasion was in the 2nd round back in the 1910/11 season which we won 2-0 and more recently we travelled to Oakwell for a 3rd round tie in 2012/13 in what was our first ever FA Cup tie under Sean Dyche’s management and with both clubs playing in the Championship.
We lost that game 1-0 with a Danny Rose goal five minutes from time that was very similar to Liverpool’s winner yesterday in the Merseyside derby.
Our team on that occasion was: Brian Jensen, Kieran Trippier, Michael Duff (Marvin Bartley 83), Jason Shackell, Danny Lafferty, Ross Wallace (Dane Richards 69), Dean Marney, Brian Stock, Keith Treacy (David Edgar ht), Danny Ings, Sam Vokes. Subs not used: Lee Grant, Luke O’Neill, Junior Stanislas, Wes Fletcher.
The game is expected to be played on Saturday 5th January 2019.
