Clarets win at Arsenal in final cup game
The under-21s have won 3-2 at Boreham Wood tonight against Arsenal as we bowed out of this season’s Premier League Cup.
We were in front as early as the third minute when Benn Ward crossed low for striker Joe Westley to turn into an empty net, but the lead didn’t last long with Arsenal levelling soon after through Josh Robinson.
The scores remained level until eight minutes from half time when Arsenal’s Catalin Cirjan gave them the lead but it was a lead they weren’t able to take into the break. In the final minute prior to the added on time, Marcel Lewis scored with a delightful chip from long range.
Six minutes into the second half, we were back in front. Westley’s header from a corner came back off the bar and full back Brad Grant (pictured) was there to turn in the rebound.
That’s how it stayed with the young Clarets winning 3-2 although the third place finish sees us exit the competition.
