Despite the 1-0 defeat, Burnley turned in a terrific performance at Spurs that deserved far more than and it was another afternoon when Nathan Collins stood out as a defender with a bright future ahead of him.

Collins turned in a superb performance on the right of a three in the centre of defence and it has rightly won him both our man of the match and player ratings.

He polled 51% of the man of the match vote, ahead of goalkeeper Nick Pope, who made two brilliant second half saves and won 37% of the vote. Kevin Long, making just his second start of the season, was third with 4% while Ashley Barnes, who came closest to netting an equaliser when his shot from outside the box hit the post, was fourth with 2% of the vote.

It was the same top three in the player ratings. Collins secured a brilliant 9.17 out of ten but that didn’t make him a clear winner. He was chased all the way by Pope whose rating was exactly nine. Long was third with 7.91 while Jack Cork took fourth place with a rating of 7.71 out of ten.

It was another maximum ten points for Collins towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year with Pope winning six points. Long collected four points and there was a point each for Barnes and Cork.

It’s given Pope a chance of taking the player of the year award although I’m sure we’d all hope he has two quiet games to finish the season. He’s now just fifteen points behind leader James Tarkowski with Collins now clear in third place some 21 points behind Pope.

The next vote will be underway tonight after the game at Aston Villa. The Spurs result and the current player of the year table are below.
