Cork & Rodriguez share the honours in Bristol City win
Midfielder Jack Cork and forward Jay Rodriguez have been named as our best two players in the 2-1 win against Bristol City with the result of the man of the match and the player ratings.
Jay scored the winning goal in what was, overall, an excellent performance from him and he won the man of the match with 35% of the vote. Although always in front, it was close with Cork only a few votes behind him with a 33% share. Manuel Benson, who made a terrific start to the game, and scored the opening goal, came third with 10% while home debutant Jordan Beyer took fourth place with 7% of the vote.
The top two positions were reversed in the player ratings with Cork leading the way with 8.29 out of ten and Rodriguez in second place with 7.96. Benson was again third with a rating of 7.56 and just behind him in fourth place came Taylor Harwood-Bellis who had a rating of 7.52 out of ten.
It has given both Cork and Rodriguez eight points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year. Benson has won four points with the two central defenders Harwood-Bellis and Beyer winning one point each.
It’s extended Cork’s lead at the top of the table to twelve points. Josh Brownhill remains second with Rodriguez now moving into third place just one point ahead of Harwood-Bellis who himself is one point ahead of Ian Maatsen.
It also brings the shortened month of September, football wise, to an end with just three games played. Cork is the month’s top player with eighteen points ahead of Charlie Taylor and Rodriguez who won eleven and ten points respectively.
The voting returns a week on Saturday following the away game against Cardiff.
