It’s Lancashire Senior Cup semi-final night at the Crown Ground tonight as the Clarets take on Accrington Stanley.

It’s a repeat of the semi-final of two seasons ago when we went there and won 3-1 with goals from Seb Thompson, Ben Woods (now an Accrington player) and Dara Costelloe, before we were beaten 1-0 in the final against Liverpool.

We’ve beaten Liverpool in this season’s competition, winning 3-1 at home against them in the first round back in November. Han-Noah Massengo scored twice that night with Joe Westley scoring the third. That took us to a quarter-final away from home against Everton and we won this one 4-1 with Mikey O’Neill and Lewis Richardson both scoring twice.

Accrington have had just one game to play to reach this stage. Having received a bye in the first round, they beat Preston 3-2.

The winners will play Barrow in the final and should that be us, it will be a repeat of last season’s final which was held over until the beginning of this season with Burnley winning on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Although this is not an age restricted competition, it will be our under-21s taking part. Accrington are expected to name a more experienced team and significantly, they confirmed yesterday that interim first team manager John Doolan would he in charge of the team tonight.

Tonight’s game at Accrington kicks off at 7 p.m. Admission to the Crown Ground is £5. There are no concession prices although under-12s will be admitted free of charge if accompanied by a paying adult.
