Having come on as a substitute in the defeat at Crystal Palace, Josh Cullen was back in the starting eleven for the home defeat against Bournemouth and as at Palace he won both the man of the match and the player ratings.

He fell out of favour after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season but he’s come back well in these two games and in the recent one, when he replaced the suspended Josh Brownhill, he won the man of the match with 52% of the vote.

Fellow midfielder Sander Berge took second place with a 16% share and Vitinho, also restored the team, also winning 16% with just one vote less than Berge to finish third. Charlie Taylor was fourth with 7% of the vote.

The top half of the player ratings mirrored the man of the match vote with the same top six with the points going to those same four players. Cullen won with a rating of 7.09 out of ten and behind him were Berger on 6.72, Vitinho with 6.63 and Taylor who scored exactly six out of ten.

It means another ten points for Cullen towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year with six points for Berge, four for Vitinho and two points for Taylor.

Berge is now fifty points clear at the top and with just eleven games remaining, he’s going to take some stopping if any other player wants to follow Cullen as our player of the year. Cullen himself, with the last two games, has moved into eighth place in the table.

It’s another Sunday game this week at West Ham. The vote will be underway soon after the final whistle. The Bournemouth result and the current player of the year table are below.
