Burnley’s youth team are back in cup action tomorrow with an away game in the first round of the Youth Alliance Cup against Doncaster Rovers.

Doncaster were beaten in the first game of the competition against Scunthorpe while Burnley were beating Accrington, so a win for the Clarets tomorrow will surely see them through to the next round if it is a case of two going through from each group.

Besides the cup win, we’ve won two and drawn two of our opening four league games with Doncaster having won two and lost two of their four in the North East League. Their most recent result last week ended in a 4-2 loss at York.

That made it three defeats in succession with the Scunthorpe game and a 2-0 home defeat against Oldham, but these came after they’d got off to a winning start with victories against Lincoln (2-1) at home and Grimsby (5-1) away.

The group stage will conclude next month when Burnley, having twice played away games, will host Scunthorpe at Gawthorpe.

The game tomorrow kicks off at 12 noon tomorrow, an hour later than is the case for home games.
