Cup night at Fulham for the under-21s
The top two in Group G in the Premier League Cup face each other tonight as Burnley take on Fulham at their Motspur Park training ground.
Having beaten Leicester 4-3 away in our first game, we then drew 3-3 at home against Brentford five weeks ago in a game played at Chorley and that sees us in second place with four points from our two games.
Fulham, however, are top having won their two games against the same opposition, and not just won them. On the night we won at Leicester, they won 6-1 at Brentford and on the night before our Brentford game they beat Leicester 4-0 at home.
Tonight is the third game for all of us with Leicester also in west London taking on Brentford but we clearly have our toughest task yet against a team that has kicked off their Premier League 2 season well. They are currently fourth in the table having lost just one of their eight league games but are behind West Ham and Arsenal only on goal difference. All three of them sit seven points behind Spurs who have won every one of their games although it was Leicester who have recorded that one win against Fulham.
As a Category 2 club, we play in the Professional Development League and it’s been a mixed start for us with four wins and three defeats from our nine games, but, league and cup, we’ve only been beaten once since mid-September and that was a shock defeat at Peterborough.
Kick off tonight is at 7 p.m.
