The second games in the new look Youth Alliance Cup were played over Friday and Saturday with only Carlisle United, Morecambe and Blackpool with two wins out of two.

With 28 teams involved in four groups, it’s a surprise to see only three of them winning both games but only four teams remain pointless and it’s Group 5 where you will find four of those seven teams.

Morecambe, currently without a win in the league, followed up their win against Rotherham with victory over Bradford City and fellow Lancashire coast team Blackpool have now also beaten the same two teams.

Carlisle secured a win at York to add make it two out of two. It’s a second defeat for York with Group 7 Oldham also suffering two losses so far.

It leaves things very tight in most of the groups and none more so than in Group 4. That’s our group and we’ve all won one and lost one now with all to play for next month when the final games are played.

Wigan secured the biggest win of the day, beating Fleetwood 4-0 to go to the top of Group 7.

The Group Tables have now been added alongside the League Table and our Fixtures and Results which can all be found within U21/U18 Stats on the top menu.

It’s back to league action this weekend with Burnley away to Accrington in a repeat of the recent cup fixture that we won 1-0 with a Scott Wilson goal. That was played at Nelson’s Victoria Park but no venue has yet been confirmed for Saturday.
