December date for FA Youth Cup tie
Curzon Ashton beat Oldham Athletic last week to set up a 3rd round tie in the FA Youth Cup against Burnley and today the date and time of the game have been confirmed. It will be played on Tuesday 17th December at Curzon Ashton’s Tameside Stadium.
The 3rd round stage is where we come into the competition but Curzon Ashton have already won through six rounds. They drew 2-2 at Altrincham in the preliminary round and went on to win 4-3 on penalties. They followed that up with a big 11-1 home win against Vauxhall Motors in the 1st round qualifying and then won 7-3 at Marine in the 2nd round qualifying, this one going to extra time having finished 3-3 on ninety minutes.
They won 3-1 at Guiseley in the third round qualifying before claiming the scalps of two league clubs in the 1st and 2nd rounds proper. In the first of those games they beat Blackpool at home 2-1 and last week recorded that 3-2 win against Oldham at Boundary Park to set up the tie against our youth team.
Kick off at the Tameside Stadium will be 7:45 p.m. and admission will be £5 adults and £2 concessions.
