1920 burnley danny drinkwater signs 1000x500Sean Dyche has confirmed today that Danny Drinkwater’s injury is not too serious and that he’ll be out for a couple of weeks before he can rejoin the squad in full training.

The pair have met this week and Dyche has clearly decided to draw a line under the whole thing since that meeting and told the player to get fit and get on with things at Burnley.

Dyche told today’s press conference: “Things happen in life and people get into scrapes. Sometimes it happens. I try and talk to the players, more so if things aren’t right. When you take a player in he becomes a part of us so we will work with Danny and try to help him and, importantly, he has to get himself fit.”

The manager reported that a decision still had to be made on Jόhann Berg Guðmundsson who is still working with the physios, but there was good news that both Dwight McNeil, who was withdrawn from the England under-21 squad but has trained all this week, and Robbie Brady are both in contention to play.
