East comes north for Brighton game
Having not refereed a single Burnley game last season, Roger East will tomorrow be in charge of his fifth this season having already refereed the away games at Liverpool, Manchester City and Southampton and the return home game against Liverpool.
His RATE THE REF rating has been slowly going up with each game recently and he’s now up to 12th place with a rating of 63.92 out of 100 and it is difficult to single out too many bad games although he had a bit of a bad day at Southampton in the 2014/15 season.
He’s refereed 26 games in total this season in which there have been 87 yellow cards and three red cards. Of those yellows, 34 have gone to home team players and 53 to away team players. Since he last refereed us he’s added one red card and that was on the last occasion he refereed tomorrow’s opponents Brighton. He quite rightly dismissed Anthony Knockaert in their 2-0 defeat at Everton last month.
East’s last game was the Premier League 0-0 draw between Leicester and Southampton a week ago yesterday. There were no cards at all in that game, just as was the case in his last Burnley game.
It would be good if he turned in a performance that saw his rating move up again, no one would have any problems with that.
The assistant referees are Mark Scholes (Buckinghamshire) and Derek Easton (Gloucestershire). The fourth official is Mike Jones (Chester) whose only Burnley game this season was the 1-0 home win against Stoke in December.
