First away game of the season for under-21s
Having been beaten by Charlton Athletic at Leyland last Monday, the under-21s are in action again this afternoon with an away game against Reading.
Reading, like us, have lost their Category 1 licence and are this season playing in the Professional Development League and, also like us, they were beaten in their opening game, going down 2-0 at Sheffield United.
I think most were surprised at how inexperienced our team was last week for the opening game but it is expected to be stronger today with Ne-Jai Tucker having travelled to Reading along with full back Finn Armstrong who has, apparently, recovered from a hamstring injury.
Both of the games against Reading last season in Premier League 2 went the way of the home team. We played at Reading in March last season in a game we lost 2-1. Mamadi Camara gave Reading the lead midway through the first half with Dara Costelloe (pictured) equalising for us right on half time. It was a penalty, converted by Rashawn Scott, ten minutes into the second half that won it for Reading.
That game was played at their main ground, the Select Car Leasing Stadium, and today’s will be too. It kicks off at 2 p.m. and, for any Burnley fans in the area, admission is free of charge.Follow UpTheClarets:
