Our game at Crystal Palace tomorrow will be refereed by Lee Probert, his first Burnley game this season and his first since our 2-1 win at West Brom last March which was the third time he’d refereed us in 2017/18.

His first ever Burnley game was at Plymouth way back in the 2004/05 season when he had something of a nightmare and a couple of seasons later he refereed this very fixture when we drew 2-2 at Palace with goals from Alan Mahon and Kyle Lafferty; Leon Cort scored their first that afternoon.

I thought he had a very disappointing game at Bournemouth at the end of the 2016/17 season but generally he’s been fine when refereeing us and that’s reflected in RATE THE REF where he is currently fifth with a rating of 71.10 out of 100.

Tomorrow will be his 12th game of the season. Six of the previous games have been in the Premier League with two in the Championship and three in League One. In those 11 games he’s handed out 39 yellow and three red cards. Of the yellows, 18 have gone to home team players and 21 to away team players.

He sent off Wigan’s Darron Gibson in their 4-0 defeat at Preston in October but earlier in the season both Bournemouth’s Adam Smith and Everton’s Richarlison saw red in the 2-2 draw between the clubs at Dean Court.

Bournemouth were involved in his last Premier League game, their 2-1 defeat at Newcastle, but Probert’s last game was Rochdale’s 1-0 win against Accrington in League One last Saturday. Rochdale had both Ryan Delaney and Harrison McGahey yellow carded alongside Accrington’s Sam Finley.

The assistant referees are Andy Garratt and Adrian Holmes. The fourth official is Mike Dean who refereed our last away game at Leicester.
