First pro deals for Grant and Le Fondre
Brad Grant and Kian Le Fondre have both today penned first professional deals with the Clarets as they progress from the under-18s to the under-21 team.
Grant, who came in from Leicester in 2021/22, moved up to the under-21s last season, benefiting from Owen Dodgson going out to Rochdale on loan which gave him the opportunity to play regularly at left-back.
He played well during that spell and that has led to him being rewarded with a two-year deal to keep him at Burnley until the end of the 2024/25 season.
It’s not quite been as plain sailing for Le Fondre who signed from Bolton early in the same season as Grant arrived but quickly disappeared, although we’ve learned today that he suffered a serious knee injury.
It kept him out of the reckoning for over a year and it was only in the closing weeks of last season that he got back to playing. Fit again, he’s won a one-year deal.
Both will be involved with the under-21s from next season and we wish them both well.
