David Coote will referee our game tomorrow against West Ham in what will be his first game at the Turf since the opening home game of the 2015/16 season against Birmingham City.

He had something of a nightmare that day; probably the worst of his six Burnley games so far, but his overall performances haven’t been good and he currently stands next to bottom in RATE THE REF with a rating of 56.58 out of 100.

He was promoted to the select group ahead of this current season having refereed once in the Premier League. This season he’s refereed a total of 13 games with just four of those in the Premier League, the first of which was our game at Fulham back in August. He’s since refereed top flight games at Leicester and Everton with a recent return to Fulham for their home game against Leicester.

In his 13 games this season, he’s handed out 44 yellow and four red cards. Of those yellow cards, 18 have gone to home team players with 25 to away team players. None of the red cards have come in the Premier League but there was one in his most recent game, the Championship fixture between Sheffield Wednesday and Preston a week ago at Hillsborough, won 1-0 by Wednesday. Home sub Atde Nuhiu was yellow carded along with Preston’s Declan Rudd and Louis Moult. They also had Ben Pearson sent off.

The assistant referees are Peter Kirkup and Daniel Cook. The fourth official is Martin Atkinson who refereed our recent home win against Brighton.
