Having drawn all four games so far, the under-23s have secured a first win of the season in the Professional Development League this afternoon with a 3-2 win against Charlton Athletic at Princes Park, the home of Dartford and we had to come from behind to win it with two second half goals.

1920 burnley ali koiki 00 500x500Ali Koiki (pictured), who scored the first in our last away game, a 2-2 draw at Colchester, was on the mark again to give us an early lead with a shot into the bottom corner of the net, but it took Charlton only three minutes to level things before they went in front on the half hour. Josh Davison headed their first after Sam Keefe had headed against the bar then Johl Powell scored off the post to turn the game in their favour.

A goal down at half time, Koiki it was who drew us level just eight minutes in the second half with a spectacular diving header and twenty minutes from time the game was won with a first goal at this level for youth team forward Mitch George. He’d come on for Ne’Jai Tucker and scored with a powerful volley. The final substitution saw Mace Goodridge replace 16-year-old Joe McGlynn, a welcome return for Mace who has been out for 11 months since suffering a cruciate ligament injury.
