Today sees us add the results, goalscorers, league tables and programme covers for five more seasons from this century taking in the seasons 2005/06 through to 2009/10.
The early part of the period so us hover just below half way in the Championship although there was something of a scare in the 2006/07 seasons as we went on an almost record breaking run without a win.

Eventually things changed. We ended the 2008/09 season in fifth place, went to Wembley for the play-off final and won promotion to the Premier League for the first time although this particular period ends with immediate relegation back to the Championship.

During the five years a total of 55 players made league debuts for us. Five of them did so in the very first match of the 2005/06 season when Wayne Thomas, Wade Elliott, Garreth O’Connor and Gifton Noel-Williams lined up against Crewe with Kyle Lafferty coming on as a substitute. The final player to debut for us, at Fulham in February 2010 was a young midfielder on loan from Chelsea by the name of Jack Cork.

Of those 55 players, eleven of them went on to take their league appearances for the club into three figures, and of those eleven two of them went past the 200. Leading the way is Wade Elliott who made 252 league appearances while Chris McCann recorded a total of 238. The other nine past the 100 are Jack Cork (156), Graham Alexander (154), Jay Rodriguez (141), Clarke Carlisle (131), Martin Paterson (130), Chris Eagles (120), Jon Harley (119), Lee Grant (115) and Steven Caldwell (104). Grant played just once for us during this time, while on loan, but returned to take his total beyond 100. David Edgar just missed out; he made 99 appearances.

The full list of league debutants in the period is: Wayne Thomas, Wade Elliott, Garreth O’Connor, Gifton Noel-Williams, Kyle Lafferty, Chris McCann, Karl Bermingham, Jon Harley, Keith Lowe, John Spicer, Duane Courtney, Nathan Dyer, Lee Grant, Danny Karbassiyoon, Michael Ricketts, Phil Bardsley, Andy Gray, Alan Mahon, Steve Jones, Stephen Foster, Mike Pollitt, Eric Djemba-Djemba, Joey Guðjόnsson, Steven Caldwell, Graham Coughlan, Paul McVeigh, Gábor Király, Stephen Jordan, Clarke Carlisle, David Unsworth, Graham Alexander, Jay Rodriguez, Stanislav Varga, Andrew Cole, Mark Randall, Alex MacDonald, Diego Penny, Remco van der Schaaf, Chris Eagles, Martin Paterson, Kevin McDonald, Christian Kalvenes, Russell Anderson, Steven Thompson, Rhys Williams, Tyrone Mears, Steven Fletcher, Fernando Guerrero, Andre Bikey, David Nugent, David Edgar, Frédéric Nimani, Leon Cort, Danny Fox and Jack Cork.

We saw two managerial changes during the five years. It started with Steve Cotterill going into his second season in charge but he was replaced by Owen Coyle in November 2007 with Brian Laws becoming manager in January 2010.
