Burnley have played a (not quite) behind closed doors friendly this afternoon against Manchester United which has ended in a 3-1 defeat.

We know that Harry Maguire and Jesse Lingard scored United’s first two goals and believe that Fred, on as a substitute, scored their third and it was Aaron Lennon who netted for the Clarets.

Former Claret Tom Heaton was in goal for United and they lined up: Tom Heaton, Diogo Dalot, Eric Bailly, Harry Maguire, Brandon Williams, Nemanja Matic, Donny van de Beek, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho. Subs: Viktor Lindelöf, Phil Jones, Paul Pogba, Mason Greenwood, Fred, Bruno Fernandes, Dan James, Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, James Garner, Hannibal Mejbri, Matěj Kovář.

It has been reported that both Lindelöf and Fred were introduced at the start of the second half with the remaining subs, other than goalkeeper Matěj Kovář (who was introduced later), playing the final thirty minutes.

As for Burnley, our team has now been confirmed. It was: Wayne Hennessey (Will Norris ht), Phil Bardsley, Nathan Collins, Bobby Thomas, Erik Pieters, Aaron Lennon, Mark Helm, Anthony Gomez Mancini (Ne-Jai Tucker 77), Anthony Glennon (Owen Dodgson 60), Ashley Barnes, Matěj Vydra (Rob Harker 55).
