Pre-season ends with a victory
Portuguese Primeira Liga club CS Marítimo were the visitors this afternoon to Turf Moor for what is our final pre-season game prior to the home League Cup tie against Sheffield United in six days time.
A first half header from Dwight McNeil gave us the lead and in the second half, Chris Wood headed home a Jόhann Berg Guðmundsson cross before setting up substitute Matěj Vydra for the third.
The pre-season, a strange pre-season at that, ends with four wins, one draw and one defeat, that coming at Gawthorpe against Shrewsbury. We’ve scored 15 goals in those six games with no lees than nine different scorers as follows:
