Game number three of the season for referee Webb
David Webb will be refereeing Burnley for a third time this season when he leads out the teams tomorrow afternoon for our home game against Coventry City.
It will be his tenth Burnley game in total, starting with an away game against tomorrow’s opposition back at the Ricoh Stadium in the 2010/11 season, but it will be the home games against Stoke and Middlesbrough this season that will be remembered when he had two shockers.
His earlier performances must have been much better because he still sits eleventh in RATE THE REF with a rating of 58.99 out of 100.
Overall, this season, he’s refereed 22 games, seventeen of them in the Championship, one in each of the two cup competitions and three in the two lower leagues. In those games, he’s shown 68 yellow and five red cards. Of those yellows, 33 have gone to home team players and 35 to away team players. The four players, other than Roberts, who received red were all in the same game, Sheffield United’s 3-3 home draw against Blackpool. Blackpool were reduced to eight men when Marvin Ekpiteta, Dominic Thompson and Shayne Lavery were all sent off with five minutes and home keeper Wes Foderingham was sent off at the end of the game.
His fourth official tomorrow is Ross Joyce who is yet to referee a Burnley game.
